Buzzing City composed from field recordings made during the first UK lockdown in 2020. Many of these sounds, the drone of electric information boards, vibrations from air vents and generators would normally be obscured by the city traffic noises.
Metalworks is about transformation. The source material for this work are extracts from a recorded improvisation by Julia Schauerman (saxophone) & Mario Cáceres (piano) and field recordings at a local construction site.
Allotment is an acousmatic story* about life during the first weeks of the UK lockdown, March to April 2020. The work combines the voice of writer Joanna Dobson with soundscapes (interior and exterior) and archive material. In addition to referencing the plot of land rented for the purpose of growing flowers and vegetables, the title relates to the ‘allotted space’ people have been confined to during lockdown.
